Schengen Visa Application-FINLAND

Schengen visas must be obtained from the Embassy or Consulate of the main Schengen country you plan to visit. This main destination is determined by the country where your stay will be the longest. If you are visiting multiple Schengen countries with an equal duration of stay, apply for a visa at the Embassy or Consulate of the country where you will first enter the Schengen area.

The Finland Visa Application Centre in the UAE is authorized to process applications for short-stay visas only. Your passport must be valid for at least three months beyond your intended stay in Finland and must have at least two empty pages. Applications cannot be submitted more than six months prior to your planned trip. However, seafarers performing their duties can apply up to nine months in advance.

To begin the application process, you must submit your visa application and supporting documents in person at the Visa Application Centre or respective mission. You can find more detailed information about the visa application process by exploring the tabs on this webpage.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Visa application form with a photograph
  • Travel document
  • Travel medical insurance
  • Flight reservations
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Invitation letter
  • Proof of itinerary
  • Proof of employment
  • Proof of financial means  - Applicant's recent (last three months) bank account sheets. Account sheets must be originals and signed/stamped by the bank
  • Birth certificate
Processing Time:

It is essential to submit your application well ahead of time for processing. The application should be lodged no more than six (6) months prior to the intended visit. Each application is evaluated independently. The standard processing time for a visa application is 15 days, however, this duration may be extended if the application is incomplete. The Embassy has the authority to request additional documents, information, or even conduct an interview, which could lengthen the processing period. It is important to take into account Article 23 of the Regulation of the European Parliament and Council, which states that the Consular authority may extend the review period of a visa application to a maximum of 45 calendar days in exceptional cases where a more thorough examination of the application is required.
